Shopping district.
Half-timbered house (with Chinese restaurant).
Cozy square.
To the Reichsburg.
Climbing.
The Reichsburg.
View.
We slept reasonably in the City Hotel Kurfürst
Balduin but we wake up early, at six o'clock.
At our leisure we get ready for breakfast, and we walk to
Café Konditorei Werrmann where we have breakfast today.
We are the first customers and we order espresso, which tastes excellent.
The breakfast also tastes good, but we think it's easier to have breakfast at the hotel and
then drink outside coffee.
The plan is to go to Stadt Cochem by car today, drive
around 50 kilometers.
We leave at a quarter past ten from the hotel parking garage and then our GPS tries to send
us to the highway.
That is not our intention, we want to drive along the Moselle, and of course we do.
After a while the GPS 'knows' how we want to drive.
It is a route through a beautiful area with on the left often the river and on the right
slopes that are often planted with vines.
The slopes are sometimes very steep.
After more than an hour we arrive in Cochem where we find a large, paid parking garage after
a little search, not too far from the center.
We walk to the center that is indeed beautiful.
There are many old, well-kept houses, often half-timbered houses.
In fact, the center is a very long shopping street and a square.
But there are also many shops and restaurants in the center.
The stores mainly sell clothing and wine.
At such a town you expect many tourists and they are there too.
It is very busy and there are many, many seniors (we are of course that).
When we have watched the center we walk back and then into a steep street in that leads to
a castle, the Reichsburg Cochem.
It becomes a considerable climb, especially for Joop, but if we are near the castle it is
worth it.
The view over Cochem and the Moselle is very beautiful.
We sit down on a terrace in the castle and we now also understand the large number of
seniors in Cochem.
The cruise ships sail off and on, passengers are unloaded and after a while loaded again.
It seems difficult to walk for many people with walkers and sticks because the streets are
with cobblestones.
At our leisure we walk back, downhill, to the center of Cochem.
When we went to Cochem we saw a restaurant with schweinehaxe on the menu. There we feel like eating that at La Baia Restaurant und Hotel. It is busy, but we find a place on the terrace. The food is reasonable.
At about four hour we drive back to Koblenz, now over the other shore of the Moselle. On the way we stop at a Lidl to do some shopping and at half past seven we are back at the hotel. The parking garage is very full, but there is just a place.
After half an hour, Tom and Joop are going to drink some in the beergarten from
Gretchens where we also sat yesterday.
Pia and Ou are going to buy water and toothpaste
After more than an hour, the ladies come to sit there as well and they also drink something.
At about ten we walk to the hotel. It is quiet in Koblenz.

We tell what we have done and experienced during a trip and we also tell what we think about it; no more and no less.
This is not a travel guide, nor is it advice to visit a place or not.
There are other sites for that.
Our opinion about places where we have eaten, drunk or slept is not intended as a (positive or negative) assessment,
there are other sites for that.
It is our view of the situation at a certain moment and that view is influenced by our mood,
the weather and many other factors.
